In our own simple way we celebrated a lovely little valentine's day. It may not seem to be a very significant holiday, but I see it as a time to add a little extra color and cheer (and love of course) to these sometimes dark and often long winter days.
The girls spent many days making many, many valentines, most of them for their dolls. And then, inspired by the so very wonderful Tasha Tudor, we made our very own "Sparrow Post" to receive the various cards, love letters, and tiny handmade gifts.
And it snowed. And snowed and snowed and snowed. For many days of the past weeks. We are finally having a real winter!
So we will continue to embrace the simpleness and loveliness of these winter days...

Absolutely charming! :-)
Dear Renee...Oh gosh, this is just so sweet! I love the sparrow post so much, I wish I could slip a little package in there for your girls ~ hmmmm, there's an idea! I also love the embroidered pendants you made, wonderful. We also have heaps of snow around, with a little patch receding under the oak tree. I'm hoping for snowdrops soon!?! Happy Day of Love to you all:)

So beautiful and sweet. Your Sparrow Post is full of charm. And LOOK at all of that snow! Ours is all melting away, which is far too soon. I mean, if we're gonna have winter then I want WINTER.
I have a miniature red mailbox for "Sparrow Post"...we are Tasha Tudor fans here, too.
I love the embroidered felt necklaced, and am a little envious of the snow--we just get a lot of mud in the winter and maybe one little snowfall per year...
So beautiful, dear Renee! Perhaps I should view Valentines Day as such, a spot of light and cheer in the middle of winter!
I absolutely adore that sparrow post! I am wondering. . . just how many Tasha Tudor books have you got?
Have a wonderful weekend! Love, Mel
Such pretty pictures. I love Tasha Tudor!
that snow looks so much fun, beautiful, beautiful :-)
Oh Renee,
I love your post and your embroidered wool hearts.
We celebrate Valentines Day in much the same way. Enjoy your beautiful snow.
Warm wishes to you, Tonya
How blessed are you with snow (from my perspective) Our ice freezes and melts, freezes and melts, it does a dance. We too have simple celebration of VAlentine's Day. Take care friend..
So delightful Renee! I can see why Valentines day is celebrated more in the north than here in Australia...... we are out and about and busy with outdoor life as it's summer here, so the need to lighten dark gloomy days is not a necessity. Sadly, it's not quite the same just making up our own Valentine Day in mid winter because some how when the collective consciousness is not there it doesn't have the same feel! Does that make sense?
I just had an 'I see' moment - thanks for sharing!
What wonderful pictures, looks like a lovely Valentine's Day! That is quite a bit of snow, how fun!
