recent creating, sewing love

..

I would really like to post here more than the barely once a week I have been managing. We'll see, I may become quite chatty...

More sewing love with my vintage feedsack scraps. The natural/white fabric I use is an organic poplin, which is my current substitute for linen.

First I made this little piece. (Patchwork trivet? Sure, let's call it that...) The colors feel nice and warm to me, wishful thinking...

And then I made this piece, the coming Valentine's holiday offering a nice excuse to create with one of my most favorite colors, pink! Both of these little pieces are being sent off to some very sweet friends. I hope they bring some cheer to the recipients.

And here is the bigger piece that I recently finished. I mostly love it, but not completely. I tried to be a bit carefree and do some random stitching on the white part. Well to me it just looks like I can't sew a straight line. I think I would like this look if someone else did it, I guess I am just too particular/critical about my own work. And clearly still need to work on letting go of some of my perfectionist tendencies. (Let's not even mention that upper left-hand corner...)

I wanted to show some of the girls recent creating too, mostly in the form of artwork, but the pictures are on the camera and the battery is dead so maybe next time.

Wishing all a creative and inspiring weekend!

Oh Renee, Aren't so many of us so hard on ourselves...I see mamas writing that a lot (me included). But if you could just step back and see your work with fresh perspective, you might just see what I see - loveliness!!! Really, simply sweet (particularly the last one which you see more of the imperfections of!) Well done to all these little inspiring projects. I'm off to begin one of those dollies you told me about...for Valentine's Day!

I agree with both comments before me.
Why do we examine our work so closely pretty much looking for any little imperfection?
All three pieces are really sweet and I would welcome any and all into my home.
happy weekend.

I think they look super! The bottom one reminds me of those little tiny quilts Amanda (Soulemama) used to make and sell in her shop before she went all bookish on us. ;)

They are GORGEOUS in their patchworky warmth. And I hear ya on the 'imperfections' that glare out at the crafter, but form beautiful charm in the eyes of others (IF they even see the so-called imperfection at all). Love, love, love the fabric and embroidery work!!!

Oh Renee, I love how chatty you are- you made me smile "I may become quite chatty!" :)
I love your work as always, and we have the same taste in vintage feed sack fabrics. . .

Renee, these are lovely! I think they are perfect, I love the colors you have selected for the Valentines holiday - they radiate the love and warmth from your heart. Really beautiful. So talented you are, I would never have seen anything other than beauty in the work you have done along with all the intricate embroidery work!

Hi friend!
Did you happen to see the quilt I made my husband?
I used a bunch of the fabric you sent. I blogged about it early December.

I've been feeling quite too.
Cheers to a new weeK.
Love, Camille
